About Friends of Singa
Since 1990, the Friends of Singa (FOS) programme has empowered students to lead kindness campaigns in their schools through a 5-month journey of identifying real issues, designing meaningful solutions, and inspiring positive change. By taking ownership from concept to completion, students not only learn to plan, implement, and evaluate their initiatives, but also fulfil their Values-in-Action (VIA) hours in a purposeful way. Participating schools are recognised for their commitment to building a kinder nation, with awards for sustained participation. Through FOS, we believe every student can be a catalyst for kindness, creating a ripple effect that grows within schools and beyond.
Flow of Friends of Singa (FOS) Programme
1.FOS Registration: 2 – 31 January 2026
Schools can register their interest in the FOS Primary programme here.
2.Teachers’ Briefing
Teachers are encouraged to attend a briefing session online (1 hour). To better accommodate your schedule, we have two dates for you to choose from. The session provide you with an overview of the FOS programme.
You may sign up for the briefing on our website! https://fos.kindness.sg/
3.Students’ Workshop:
Students will learn that kindness involves both caring for others and taking meaningful action, students will explore the SINGA framework (Start with kindness, In their shoes, Now we brainstorm, Gather your thoughts, Appreciate others) to design kindness projects and create personal commitment statements outlining daily kindness practices they will implement beyond the classroom.
This year, we are bringing the workshops closer to your schools! Selected schools from each cluster, North, South, East, West and Central will host these sessions, creating a convenient local setting.
4.Proposal Submission: By 31 March 2026
Participating schools must submit one FOS proposal focusing on one of the kindness pillars:
Campaign content/messages must be respectful and free of any racial, political, or religious implications.
Schools may receive up to $200 in funding for their campaign, with no more than 40% of the total costs of the project for giveaway items or prizes.
Educators are encouraged to submit proposals earlier than the deadline.
Proposals will be reviewed and approved within one month of submission.
